I chose this drawing because I thought it was challenging for me and it was fun. What I like about the drawing is it’s colorful and pretty. The hard part was I used all my colors and I filled up the whole paper. I notice that both corners have triangles at the bottom and when I was coloring I was coloring back and forth. When I was looking at my picture I saw rectangles and different shades of colors.

Magic House, May 2009

This picture seems like my house because it has four stories. It has a whole bunch of trees by it just like my real house. I see the sun and it has a face. I see a tornado right next to the house. It is light brown and all swirly. There is a brown table up in the sky because the tornado blew it out of the house, threw the stairs and out my window. The top story is my room that I share with my sister, Ayanna.

The third story is where my mom and dad’s room is, on the left side. The right side is where my brothers, Robert and Phillip, are. The second story is the front room. We have two front rooms and they are right next to each other. There are only two steps to go to the other room that used to have the chandeliers.

I like the light turquoise sky and the dark blue clouds. I made the turquoise with a tiny bit of blue and some white. The clouds had a tiny bit of white and a lot of blue, like the fourth story of the house.

The hard part was that I had to put different colors on each story and for the background, trees, sun, sky and clouds. You have to concentrate. When you’re trying to get the whole sky or the ground you should use the tip of the brush so it won’t go onto the stories of the house or anything else. You shouldn’t just paint it before you draw it because then it will mess everything up. Some people try to draw their paintings with the paintbrush and the paint but then you won’t really see the painting, just a whole bunch of paint everywhere.
